Hello Rotarians and Friends, Our guest speaker at Rotary this week was Rotary Community Leader Trish Carr, who was joined by her husband Rotarian Les Marton. Trish spoke about a wonderful Rotary initiative developed by our Rotary Community Group—the Mental Health and Crisis Support QR Code. Trish has been leading this project, helping to develop it and promote it throughout the community. The QR code has the potential to reach many people who may be in need of support. It also provides links to participating Rotary clubs, including information about Rotary and how people can become involved. During the week, Esther and Sohrab organised for kids school snacks to be delivered to CareNet for distribution to families for their primary school students. These families are finding it hard to meet their weekly bills and are unable to cover snacks for their child, no snacks at recess time. The Manningham Community Excellence Awards Night was held on Thursday 13 August and was attended by several Rotarians from our club. Congratulations to all the winners on their well-deserved recognition, a special congratulations to our own Rotarian Mel Cullingford, her Empower Youth was one of the finalists in the community excellence awards section. Our next meeting at the Manningham Hotel on Wednesday 19 August will feature Vic Police Inspector Josh Langelaan, the new Area Commander from Doncaster Police Station, as our guest speaker. Please be aware that roadworks associated with the North East Link are affecting the entry and exit points at the Manningham Hotel. These arrangements may change from week to week, so please check the latest traffic arrangements before attending. Keep warm, everyone! Winter is almost over! Enjoy the week in Rotary. From The 2 Brians, Co Presidents Brian Tyedin and Brian Negus
