Investing in our Future
Rotary International puts a major focus on supporting young people - locally and globally - through leadership, education, wellbeing, and opportunity.
At the Rotary Club of Manningham City, supporting young people is a core priority, with a strong focus on developing future leaders and strengthening the local community. We sponsor and support 'Earlyact', 'Interact' and 'Rotaract' Clubs in local schools, conduct the annual 'Primary Schools Speech Competition' and present programs such as the ‘Youth Mental Health QR Code Initiative', a program to guide adults in helping young people tackle youth mental health issues.
🌱 Leadership & Development
The club actively sponsors local students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), giving them life-changing opportunities to build confidence, leadership skills, and lifelong networks. Many participants return more engaged and ready to contribute to their schools and community.
🎓 Education & School Engagement
The club works closely with schools across Manningham, recognising student achievement through awards and supporting educational initiatives. This includes encouraging leadership, community service, and personal growth among young people.
🌍 Broader Opportunities
Through programs like Rotary Youth Exchange, local students may be supported to experience different cultures and broaden their global perspective - something that often has a lasting impact on their future direction.
💛 Wellbeing & Community Support
The club contributes to youth wellbeing initiatives, including mental health awareness and resilience-building programs, often in partnership with local organisations.
🤝 Creating Pathways
Importantly, Rotary provides young people with pathways into community involvement - whether through volunteering, speaking opportunities, or connecting with experienced local leaders.
Rotary Manningham City doesn’t just support youth - it invests in their future, helping them become confident, capable, and community-minded individuals.

How Rotary Manningham City Supports Youth
At the Rotary Club of Manningham City, we believe the future of our community starts with our young people—and we’re proud to play a part in shaping it.From sponsoring students to attend the life-changing RYLA leadership program, to recognising achievement in our local schools through ‘Earlyact’, ‘Interact’ and ‘Rotaract’, we’re helping young people build confidence, resilience, and real-world skills. We also open doors to incredible opportunities like international exchanges, giving students a broader view of the world and their place in it.
But it’s not just about programs - it’s about connection. We create pathways for young people to engage with community leaders, develop their voice, and step into leadership roles of their own.

| Earlyact is a school-wide service club for primary school students, sponsored by Rotary, aiming to promote goodwill, understanding, and peace. Its mission encourages students to make positive contributions at school and in their communities. Rotary Manningham City is proud to sponsor the Earlyact Club of Beverley Hills Primary School. |

The club helps students develop values like caring, respect, responsibility, tolerance, compassion, friendship, and leadership. Earlyact offers character-building activities and projects that prepare students for future leadership and benefit their communities.

| INTERACT stands for International Action. It’s a junior Rotary Club for young people between the ages of 14 and 18, usually in secondary schools. All Interact Clubs operate as part of Rotary International and are sponsored by a Rotary Club. Rotary Manningham City proudly sponsors the Interact Club of Doncaster Secondary College and the Interact Club of Templestowe College. |
|
Interact’s motto - SERIOUS FUN - reflects its dual focus: fundraising and community projects, along with enjoyable teamwork. The club hosts social events and service activities, and students especially enjoy fundraising efforts - often when food is part of the event! Each Interact Club commits to at least two projects each year - one Community Project and one International Project. Each Interact Club selects or elects its own President and forms an Executive group, commonly known as Directors, who are responsible for leading the planning of club activities. The key aim is to ensure that all members are engaged and enjoying their involvement in the club. |
|
| ROTARACT is a global organisation that empowers students and young professionals to create positive and lasting change in themselves, their local community and around the world. Rotaractors help, learn, and enjoy. We help those in need, learn through professional development opportunities, and enjoy social activities. Rotaract (which stands for Rotary in Action) is a Rotary-partnered service club for young people aged 18 to 30’ish. Sponsored by Rotary International, Rotaract Clubs across Australia are part of a worldwide organisation of 250,792 individuals in 10,904 clubs covering 184 countries. |
|
Rotaract Members share a unique passion for taking action through not only ideas but planning and execution of projects and events. “Where others see problems, we see solutions”.
Rotary Manningham City also sponsors Rotary youth programs including ‘Rotary Youth Leadership Awards' (RYLA), the National Youth Science Forum (NSF) and the 'Model UN Assembly' (MUNA).
The local Primary Schools speech competition is an opportunity for representatives from local primary schools to display their skill as public speakers. Year 5 and 6 students complete for prizes courtesy of Bendigo Bank, by giving a 3 minute speech on a topic selected from a range of suggestions. The speakers are judged by independent Toastmasters judges. The event is attended by club members, students, teachers and local government, civic and district representatives and sponsors, notably Bendigo Bank.
