East Doncaster Secondary College Trivia Night coming up next week. Bunnings BBQ 6 June. Lots on so make sure you sign up for our events.

Changes to our Meeting Venue from August 2026 - we will meet at the Manningham Club on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of each month commencing in August. This will be ongoing.  A big thank you to the Catering Team: Graham, Andrew and Daryl, for your wonderful support in organising the catering for the Bowls Club during this Rotary year. Our last meeting at the Bowls Club is on 10 June.

Enjoy the week,

Esther & Anthony

May 2026 Board Report

The club board met on Monday, May 25, with Kevin Hall substituting for David Alexander.

Key Decisions & Financials

  • Membership fees for 2026-27 remain unchanged at $330 (incl. GST).
  • Finances remain strong. The draft budget forecasts an operating deficit to fund major local donations, drawing from fundraising reserves. Committee chairs will be asked to trim expenditure for the final budget.
  • The board acknowledged the quality of our 2026 RYLA candidates but confirmed that the club should preference candidates from our Interact Clubs and local Secondary Colleges.
  • Anthony Calinan was re-endorsed as Club Insurance Officer. Direct all insurance queries to Anthony rather than District.

Project & Committee Updates

  • Our Op-Shop recorded its second-highest revenue on record. Sincere thanks to Kathy Monley and the volunteer team.
  • The Manningham Business Awards launch on Wednesday, 3 June at the Bendigo Bank Business Breakfast.
  • Bunnings has signed on as a sponsor for the Schools Speech Competition.
  • After a successful year, the Community Welfare & Health Committee is revising its 2026-27 Charter.
  • International, Foundation & Sustainability Projects: Progress continues on West Kenya Dignity Packs, a Prostate Cancer Research grant, and sustainability projects for plastic recycling in Sabah (Malaysia) and tree planting in East Timor (led by RC Melbourne).
  • Operations & Membership: A website update is underway. The 2nd-Wednesday catering will be moving to the Manningham Hotel from August. Membership Chair Brian Negus will be reaching out to less regular attendees.
