Co-Presidents Message 14 May 2026

Dear Members and Friends,

Our meeting this week was at the Templestowe Bowls Club where we reviewed our plans and budget for 2026-2027.

We enjoyed beautiful Chinese food from Yummy Duck Restaurant in Templestowe. 

A number of our Directors and Members presented their Project for the new year 

Next week is National Volunteer week with Australia celebrating the amazing work done across the country. 

This year the theme is: YOUR YEAR TO VOLUNTEER. 

The Australian Citizenship Ceremony Event was held twice this month (see below). 

Next week on 20 May - Rotaract Youth Projects at the Manningham Club.

Update your Immunisation

Flu and Covid vaccinations are now available at your GP Clinic and Pharmacies.  Very important to have.

Are you 75 years old and over the RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) vaccination is now available from your GP.

Plaque of Appreciation

Our Club has been acknowledged for invaluable service to the Public Schools in San Narciso, Phillipines. 

Known as  the Teacher Literacy Enhancement Project for San Narciso 1 and 11 Districts we contributed in improving literacy instruction and learners reading proficiency. 

Congratulation to David Alexander for this great work.

Australian Citizenship Ceremony

This month the Citizenship Ceremony was held on two occasions. Our Club was represented by Barry Halpern, Luke Bastian, Brian Tyedin and David Rosenwax.

These Events are hosted by Manningham Council with significant number of families and individuals receiving their citizenship. 

June Event dates are: June 15th and 18th.

Shine On Recognition

Our Club is hosting the multi district Shine On Recognition Event on 8 August at Templestowe Baptist Church.
The primary objective of the Recognition is to celebrate the success of people living with disabilities and acknowledge the contributions they make in their communities. 

We recognise the achievements of people with disabilities, focusing on their abilities, resilience, and community service. 

Please ensure that you pay attention to this important Nomination information don't miss nominating one of your community.

Rotary South Pacific Conference 2026

 

 RSP26: Three Days of Inspiration, Leadership & Fellowship — Don’t Miss Out

 

Registrations are now open for the Rotary South Pacific Conference 2026, 30 Oct–1 Nov in Melbourne. This year’s theme — People • Planet • Peace — brings together an exceptional lineup of speakers. Members will leave with practical tools, fresh ideas, and renewed confidence in Rotary’s future.

 

Clubs and members are encouraged to also consider:

·       President’s Breakfast (Sat) — an energising session with incoming RI President Larry Lunsford, designed for current and future club leaders. Registration Link

·       Rotary Foundation Masterclass (Fri) — with Past RI President and incoming TRF Trustee Chair Gordon McInally, focusing on mental health, impact, and how clubs can use Foundation grants more effectively. Registration Link

·       Saturday Gala Dinner — Unmasked: Masquerade Ball A spectacular evening featuring performances from classical musicals, a professional jazz band, a Phantom‑themed surprise duet, and a dramatic all‑guest unmasking moment. Clubs may wish to book as a group via the main conference registration site.

·       Friday night fellowship dinner – an informal opportunity to socialise with members from across the region.  Registration Link
