Our Projects
The Primary Schools speech competition is an opportunity for representatives from local primary schools to display their skill as public speakers. Year 5 and 6 students complete fro prizes courtesy of Bendigo Bank by giving a 3 minute speech on a topic selected from a range of suggestions. The speakers are judged by Toastmasters judges. The event is attended by club members, students, teachers and local government, civic and district representatives and sponsors, notably Bendigo Bank.
Around 600 students from local schools in the City of Manningham attended the Schools ANZAC Day Commemoration at the Templestowe War Memorial on a school day around ANZAC Day (25 April) each year. This event, first held in 1991, was initiated by the Rotary Club of Templestowe and is now one of the key events in Rotary Manningham City's calendar.
The Rotary Environmental Planting scheme is a community initiative of Landcare Australia, property owner,s the Pajero Club of Victoria and the Rotary Club of Seymour South with assistance of Rotary Manningham City. The project is lead by Wally Spinks and Keith Woolnough. In addition, the 2024 team include Daryl Brown, Pat Armstong, John Bennie and teacher Emelia Doherty and 15 students from East Doncaster Secondary College.
In 2024 the tree planting site was a property in Glenoura, near Seymour.

- Rotary Leadership Youth Awards (RYLA), a leadership progam for 18-30 year olds.
- Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN), a weekend-long camp designed for young people, aged 14–17, to be empowered, discover their potential and grow personally.
- Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), an inter-school debating event where teams of six students form a delegation to represent assigned countries and debate those countries' positions on set topics.
- The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF), a 9 day program designed to give Year 11 students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in STEM.
Rotary Manningham City is one of a number of contributors to the Grade 1 to 3 Teacher Literacy Enhancement (Read Aloud) Project. This project is funded under a Rotary Global Grant. The project is located in Quezon Province of the Phillipines, approx. 270 km south-west of Manila.
Barbecues are a major source of funds for our club. In addition to monthly Saturday or Sunday barbecues at Bunnings in Doncaster Road, Doncaster, the club runs barbecues for a range of public and Council events, including Carols by Candlelight in December.
